ChristianityNext, the journal of Innovative Space for Asian American Christianity (ISAAC), offers a platform for scholars, practitioners, and church leaders to explore issues related to cutting edge Asian American Christianity. Our journals have addressed issues including movements and trends in Asian American Christianity; faith and justice; mental health; church leadership; gender construction and performance; and spiritual, cultural, and social issues in Asian American Christianity. Readership consists of academics, ecclesial leaders, and field practitioners. ChristianityNext seeks original submissions in the following areas:

1. Scholarly Peer-Reviewed Articles – Double-blind review of articles based on scholarly research and literature review

2. Practitioner Articles – Articles drawn from the practical wisdom of practitioners and Christian leaders in the field

3. Book Reviews – Short essays in review of emerging books and media.

4. 
   

We support article submissions from diverse disciplines and fields that offer Asian American Christianity emerging conversations and ideas. Scholarly articles are double-blind reviewed where neither the author nor the reviewer knows the identity of the other.

Deadlines

Winter 2022 Issue

The next issue of ChristianityNext will be out in Winter 2022 and will focus on Public and Political Theology for the Asian American Church. Experiencing the recent Anti-Asian COVID hate and racism, Black Lives Matter protests for racial justice, White Christian Nationalism and insurrection at the Capitol, cries for better Asian American media representation, #metoo and #churchtoo protests, and the fake news and proliferation of conspiracy theories, there is a dire need for critical theological and ministerial reflections. With all that in view, manuscripts that expand understanding around topics of public witness and prophetic discipleship of the Asian American church, activism regarding Asian American racial violence or racial justice and equity, politics and Christian faith intersections are welcome. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to faith and politics related to Asian cultural heritage, migration, cultural representation, racism, sexism, pastoral leadership, preaching, and ecclesial issues. Activists, researchers, educators, and ministry leaders are invited to consider submitting an abstract proposal.

A 500-word abstract proposal for academic articles is due by June 15, 2021. A 500-word abstract proposal for narrative articles is due by July 15, 2021. The abstracts will be reviewed by the editorial board and if accepted, invitations to submit a full manuscript will be sent out via email on July 31, 2021. The full manuscript for academic articles will be due by September 30, 2021 and sent to reviewers. The full manuscript for narrative articles will be due by October 31, 2021.

Guidelines: Abstract submission should not exceed 500 words. Please use 12-point font and 1-inch margins. Submit abstracts according to The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th ed. for general style, references, and citations.
