our story
Passionate about Asian Pacific North American Christianity . . .

At our first retreat in Danville, California, ISAAC Board members were inspired by what appeared to be a message to go forward... so we did!
ISAAC was started in April 2006 by six theological educators and pastors with extensive experience in ministry and academia. Inspired by the growing Global and Multi-cultural diversity of Christianity and recognizing the challenges that Asian Pacific North American Christians face, the founders believed that the time was ripe for an independent organization to bring greater attention to APNA Christianity. ISAAC’s vision has been to bridge the APNA Christianity knowledge and leadership gap in the church, academy, and professional networks.
Over the past year, ISAAC has focused on research, developing resource and curricula, building professional networks among Asian American Christian women in the Los Angeles area, and facilitating networks of theological educators who care deeply about the APNA Christian communities.
We have started a Southern California chapter and are in the process of forming an Eastern Regional chapter. We want each chapter to be a community of individuals with a passion for APNA Christianity. We also hope that each chapter will be a catalyst for bringing ISAAC’s vision to the churches and academic institutions in its region.
We have also sought organizational partners from denominations, seminaries, and para-church organizations. It is wondeful to have partners such as the American Baptist Churches USA, the Presbyterian Church USA, Logos Evangelical Seminary, MESA, and the Epic Movement of Campus Crusade for Christ.
2007-08 will be a critically important time for ISAAC. We will make available some significant resources and services for church and academic audiences. Please check our website regularly or sign up for our electronic newsletter for updates - and find out how you can get involved with ISAAC here!
